Locating Underground Storage Tanks for Environmental Firm

Often prior to selling or developing properties, the parties involved need to determine if any underground storage tanks (UST) are still present on the sites of former gas stations. Nobody wants to be stuck with the cost & headache of removing any unknown underground storage tanks with a property they just purchased. Ground Penetrating Radar is an excellent tool to utilize when determining if any UST’s are still present at a site.

An environmental company had a project at a couple different parcels in Detroit, Michigan where they were asked to determine if any underground storage tanks might still be present at a property which was once occupied by former gas stations. Prior to any sale being finalized, the client wanted information as to if any UST’s had remained in place. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Michigan was contacted to investigate the parcels to provide answers to some of the questions regarding remaining UST’s onsite. GPRS utilized a 400 MHz antenna to investigate the areas. The technology provided real time results for everyone involved. During the investigation, GPRS successfully located two underground storage tanks still present onsite. The parties then had the information needed to proceed with the sale of the property along with the accurate locations & depths to the UST’s.
